A Poll for the Readers

Wed Aug 13, 2008, 6:38 PM
The last few days have started to make me thinking...mostly bad than good. I've been thinking about the current status of my writings...no way am I giving it up but I think I need to re-evaluate to see where I am going with them and what exactly I really need to do with it. The following poll I am going to list is for people who read my stuff only...if you aren't serious and critical (in other words, fav anything that involves female TF without reading them), this questionaire isn't for you. Nor is it for those of you watching this journal for the fanpics I make...which I know get more watches than my stories but I don't mind that.

Now that I've probably cleared the room:
1. What do you think of my writings? Do you actually read them?
2. What do you like about my writings? Is there anything you consider my strength?
3. What don't you like about my writings? Is there anything I do wrong or am weak at? Is there anything I really should avoid with my writings?
4. What do you think was the last "good" story I wrote? (and when I mean good I mean a story you really loved) Heck...have I even ever written a good story?
5. Is there something that I really should never write or try again in my writings?
6. Have you read my Strange Fan Mail series? Do you like them? What do you like and don't like? Was it a good idea for a personal think tank? Should any of the girls in those stories even come back in a serious tale?
7. Am I really in a slump with my writing? If I am, when did it start and is there a way I can get out of it?
8. Do I take too many things on at once? Is my mind just too active preventing me from doing anything for too long? Should I just stick with one-shots instead of something long-termed?
9. Who is your favorite character of mine? And likewise...is there any you don't like or want back?
10. Finally: do you have any suggestions for me that can help me based on the first nine questions? Am I just being too paranoid due to commentary (or lack of)...or do I have a right to be this way?

I enjoy your writing buddy and I know how discouraging it can be when people are not reading or not commenting but you have to do what you do for the love of it not for anyones approval. Personally I think you should keep at it

I guess that you can count me among the people who read your work yet rarely provide feedback; mostly because I don't really that I can point out that would be able to help you with your work.

The one thing I have noticed was the lack of full-length stories lately. This may have been due to some of the apprehension that you have lately or it's just a case of writer's block. I typically like the longer stories, even though I enjoy the SFMs just fine (6.).

7. To me, I think things went downhill after Easter after the Madison/Musculose story. It may have been earlier, but I think you became more paranoid that usual.

2. I do that you are eclectic with your stories by using characters and ideas from :iconsephzero:, myself and others. I guess it gives kind of the community feel to your work, especially the genres that you hold dear.

4. I will say the Devil Helix and the 6-pack stories I really liked.

9. Probably my favorite character is Layla.

10. Some general advice that I have, which you probably heard a million times already is that reading actually takes time and that it takes effort to actually 'draw up' the characters and plot in one's mind to get the story comprehended just as you wanted to when you put pen to paper...er keyboard to screen.

I will say that they're plenty of people out there that respect your work and that you would be able to paint a picture in their mind (looks at watch list) and feel that you do a good job on some fronts to make them satisfied. It may not be every story that are getting feedback from, but a story here or a SFM there would should provide some satisfaction that you're getting your artistic talent across.

Overall, things are going well. You are probably the only writer I regularly read. Maybe this is because they're not that many other FMG/TF authors or that I need to expand my horizons. Maybe an extended break is needed for you, possibly that trip to the UK that you alluded to earlier. Whatever the case, I will say that I hope to take a note or two from you, since I have some stories myself here and that you do provide a vital role in the community.

zero magnus on the way
I was going to keep at it, I mostly was just gauging cause it felt like I was getting little to no feedback thanks to no one really caring about my writing. All these favs and its mostly:

1. The usual suspects (friends or those that fave any and all TF pic no matter the genre)
2. No comments

Don't worry, I'm never gonna give this up.

"Forget It, You Wouldn't Have Believed Me Anyway...Who Listens to a Frog?"
I haven't written anything longer than the last DH tale is multi-fold: I am actually writing another DH story but its turning into another monster. I guess I write really short tales like the Fan Mails as means to keep content going I guess...but somehow one of my friends said they have been too rushed as of late and not too good (though he admitted loving the mink twins) and that's what lead to another one of my bouts. I wish I had other worlds to go to or that I wasn't such a monster when it comes to writing stories...but unfortunately that's practically impossible since somehow I just seem to squeeze in too much details that shouldn't be in TF fiction. No one needs to know of a person's feet hurting or aggrevation unless it amounts to the story...and somehow I just can't see it as filler since I usually sit down, write and then that's it for the night after I get a certain amount I'm happy with. I do have bursts in my head: a Layla idea here, an anthro were there but most never see the light of day outside the Fan Mails...heck, I wrote one idea someone suggested and they never got back on if they even read it! That probably was another reason behind my latest bout.

BTW: Surprised you liked "Six-Pack"...not too many seemed to due to the crappy narrator.

About #3: More Femmuscle? How so? More like regular muscle girls like Layla or something? More FMG? More were FM...not sure what you meant.

Glad you admitted to liking the Kinniku no Jutsu fanstory though with ramen girl Ayame :p

Hey James Joyce!! Relax!!

You know my thoughts, heck, you've read'em a lot of times and I stand by them to support you.

That's all, I'm afraid that if I say anything else could be counterproductive and/or cause another bout.

(almost 64k, damn)

One glance at a book and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for 1,000 years. To read is to voyage through time.
Carl Sagan
Glad to hear it man
