Calvin and Hobbes: Marvelverse

Now...this one probably needs a lot of explaining...and a lot of investigation regarding where the heck my head was in regards to this!

I'll start with an admission: Calvin & Hobbes is probably one of the greatest comic strips to ever run in the funny pages. But...it took me a long time to really read the series and appreciate it's genius, quite a bit of time after it's run was over. I had bought the various collections (the paperback ones, I really need the hardcover book maybe someday but I rather do Peanuts first since I have a massive loyalty to Schultz...well his classic era from the 50s to about the early-mid 80s) and have appreciated the brilliance of taking the childlike but very mature adventures and philosophies of a young kid...and his stuffed tiger come to life.

Of course, with my liking of Calvin and Hobbes, my mind started to churn with ideas. In particular, with my appreciation and love of certain comic books and characters, said ideas became rather silly. Probably the silliest and the one I had the most intention in getting commissioned some day was simple: what if Calvin and Hobbes took place in the Marvel Universe? Or more specifically: what would happen if Tigra (the beautiful, busty were-tigeress; a personal favorite for those who know me and my tiger girls) somehow ended up the "doll" of one Franklin Ricards (son of two of the most notable and powerful beings in the Marvelverse and essentially a reality warping mutant...who can force heroes and heroines under the mercy of Rob Liefeld for a year) Sure I had an excuse as to why it happened (it involved the Puppet Master and Diablo, but that's all I'm really saying since i rather just keep it an homage and not come up with excuses), but I rather just let it be as it was: Calvin and Hobbes as played by Franklin and Greer. Of course, it was really hard finding any artist who could make this silly dream of mine a reality...someone who was beyond the typical artists I hung around with...yeah Tigra is supremely cute and I wanted a fan art of her forever but this was one that would less emphasize her sexiness and just use her for this silly plot.

Lucky for me I remembered my collaborator . Though he loves the sexy stuff, he pretty much can and will draw anything...and that's how this came about! It was an incredible work and I do thank him for bringing this dream of mine finally to reality! Besides, Tigra could always get more love, huh?

BTW: this isn't the end of this universe...another picture with another "representation" is forthcoming...
